Each year, a number of Swiss students come to the University of Oxford for postgraduate study across a wide range of disciplines. One of the most prominent opportunities to support this journey is the Berrow Foundation Scholarship.
The Berrow Foundation Scholarships offer full funding for Swiss graduates (domiciled in Switzerland) to pursue postgraduate degrees at Oxford as members of Lincoln College. This includes coverage of all University and College fees, as well as a generous living allowance (comparable to the Rhodes Scholarship, currently ~£20,400 per year).
Two main schemes are available:
Berrow Foundation Scholarships (for graduates of selected Swiss universities including EPFL)
Berrow Foundation Lord Florey Scholarships (for medical, chemical, and biochemical sciences, open to graduates of all Swiss universities, including ETH Zürich)
Scholarships are typically awarded for up to three years and are highly competitive, with candidates assessed not only on academic excellence, but also on personal qualities such as leadership, integrity, and commitment to community.
An important feature of the application process is that candidates must apply for the scholarship before applying to Oxford, and—if selected—will then proceed with their University application.
Application deadline: usually end of August (for entry in the following year / more than a year later. Check website for precise dates)
